A Love Letter to Philadelphia

from TANJ from 'A Travelogue'

TANJ, the writer and photographer behind A Travelogue, tells us about her favorite things to do in Philly... Everyone goes for the big attractions like the Liberty Bell (admittedly, you should check out this important piece of US history), but these places make me want to hop on a plane to Philly right now!

EAT YOUR HEART OUT AT READING TERMINAL MARKET

The Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia by A Travelogue by Brock and Tanj

Ironically, a lot of Philadelphians would tell you to eat cheese-steaks of course, Team Tony Lukes or Team Pat's, but some places tend to get overlooked by this. When you visit Reading Terminal Market, make sure you stop by at DiNic's, get a Roast Beef. I personally get their Roast Pork with Hot and Sweet Peppers and Sharp Provolone - symphony of flavors on my mouth. And if there is room for dessert, stop by at Termini Brothers, been in business since 1921 and get their famous Cannoli and Sfogliatelle or, if you love ice cream, stop by at Basset's! I guarantee you won't regret it!

SEE A GHOST AT EASTERN STATE PENITENTIARY

Enough of the Rocky business, Eastern State Penitentiary is one of the neatest places to visit in Philadelphia. It is one of America's abandoned prisons and the eerie atmosphere makes you think twice if some lingering souls can be found here.

Looking for ghosts in Eastern State Penitentiary

Visit this place on Halloween night and get spooked! This place is well known as it housed one popular guy - Al Capone. Make sure you stop by and see his prison cell.

WALK AT THE BOATHOUSE ROW

If you just want to have a relaxing day in the city, visit Fairmount Park and walk along the Boathouse Row. It is a beautiful spot to see all year round.

Always remember be a tourist in your own city, never stop exploring!
